OCPRSA Angels Game with Meet and Greet with Tim Mead
May 17 @ 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
There’s something special about taking in a baseball game with friends on a nice evening—and getting to meet an all-star VP of Communications. On Thursday, May 17, 2018, OCPRSA members and guests will not only get to experience the Angels as they take on the Tampa Bay Rays, but registered attendees will also be able to sit down in the Angels’ press conference room with Tim Mead, Vice President of Communications for the Angels. Tim will take us through his journey with the Angels’ organization, sharing stories of his nearly 40 years in the Angels organization. Tim will talk about the changes he has seen transpire in the field of PR and media relations; what it is like to be the spokesperson and brand ambassador for such a large franchise and much more.
All registered guests will pick up their tickets at will call (photo ID required) and then meet in front of the World Series trophy (Field Level by Gate 1) at 5:00 p.m. The entire group will be directed by Tim Mead up to the press conference room at 5:20 p.m.
Note that tickets are in the Trout Farm at Field Box 101.
Tim Mead is currently in his 38th season in the Angels’ organization and 20th season as Vice President, Communications. He oversees media relations, publicity and broadcasting for the Angels.
Mead began his career with the Angels as an intern in the public relations department in 1980. He was appointed Director of Media Relations in 1985 and later Assistant Vice President of Media Relations in 1991. During his tenure in Media Relations, Mead and his staff have been responsible for the handling of media during the 1986, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Angels’ post-season appearances, the 1989 and 2010 All-Star Games at Angel Stadium and the Angels memorable World Series run in 2002. He has also assisted Major League Baseball at various off-site All-Star Games, League Championship Series, World Series and World Baseball Classics. Before his current appointment, Mead spent four seasons as Assistant General Manager (1994-97) under former GM Bill Bavasi.
Mead was the recipient of the 2000 Robert O. Fishel Award for PR excellence, recognizing the “active non-uniformed representative of Major League Baseball whose ethics, character, dedication, service, professionalism and humanitarian efforts best represent the standards propounded by Robert O.
