CSUF PRSSA Commitment to Social Impact and Belonging Statement
Creating a welcoming and accessible environment for members to become innovative and conscious professionals in the communications and public relations industry is a crucial focus for CSUF PRSSA.
Our organization prioritizes providing educational resources reflective of the unique community we serve who represent the diverse future of PR.
Encouraging open conversations where all voices are valued is a central goal for our chapter as we advocate for the transformative impact of creating meaningful connections.

WHY is social and cultural awareness important?
1.
Acknowledges those who have been historically disadvantaged and misrepresented through empowerment of sharing their perspectives and providing intentional opportunities for everyone.
2.
Recognizes the importance of inclusive and respectful dialogue, as seen in the rise of pronoun use and person-first language.
3.
Increases cultural consciousness through celebrating national observances, framing a fixed focus on diverse communities.
4.
Encourages community building in learning on how to become a support system for others.
5.
Ensuring accessibility for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities and affirming the societal challenges they face.
What does Social Impact & Belonging mean to you?
Embracing ourselves in new experiences and creating spaces for others to feel valued and included is what Social Impact and Belonging means to me. Being part of such a diverse field, surrounded by individuals with unique experiences, perspectives, and skill sets, can sometimes make us question whether our own contributions are enough. It is important to recognize, however, that regardless of who we are, where we come from, or what we have experienced, we each bring value to the table and have the ability to foster a sense of belonging for others.
Practicing intentional inclusion creates opportunities for us to learn from one another, recognize the strengths that different perspectives bring, and grow collectively as professionals. To me, belonging is not simply about having a seat at the table, but about creating an environment where everyone feels empowered to take that seat, contribute their voice, and know that they have a meaningful place within the community.
